Meetings: ATPD will meet monthly.  Meeting times will be scheduled through the Office of Academic Advising.  Meetings will be facilitated by the ATPD Chair; in the Chair’s absence the Vice Chair will facilitate.  A member’s home department/unit shall make a decision about sending an alternate in the event of a committee member going on temporary ongoing leave.

Membership: Membership is made up of representatives from each of the four undergraduate colleges, as well as representatives from Student Affairs units with advising functions.  Members shall serve a three-year term with the possibility for extension, which shall be determined by new nominations and the need to maintain representative composition as stipulated.  Participation on ATPD must be approved by each advisor’s direct supervisor.  Full participation is expected.  Any changes to the membership composition must be approved by a simple majority vote of current ATPD members.  The Academic Advising website shall specify current ATPD membership.

Member Nominations: Membership shall be determined by nominations.  Major and college representatives from each of the four undergraduate colleges shall be nominated by the Advising Director for that particular college; student affairs and non-college/non-departmental advising unit representatives shall be nominated by a supervisor.  Nominations for new members shall be sent to the Undergraduate Education Advising Analyst during the month of June each year and will be considered for a term appointment, beginning in July.  Membership decisions will be determined through Academic Advising Enrichment.

Chair and Vice Chair: ATPD Chair and Vice Chair will be confirmed by June, prior to the annual ATPD summer retreat, to serve for a one year appointment July through July.  All active committee members are eligible for the Chair and Vice Chair position.  Voting will be conducted electronically via Academic Advising Enrichment and the member with the highest vote count must be confirmed, or decided, in the case of a run-off, by majority vote of ATPD membership to emerge as the Chair.  The member with second highest vote count will become Vice Chair after confirmation by committee.  The Chair will facilitate meetings and work with the Academic Advising Enrichment to set the monthly agendas.  The annual ATPD summer retreat will be jointly facilitated by the outgoing and incoming ATPD Chairs.

Subcommittees:  Depending on need, a member will Chair, Co-Chair, or actively guide each subcommittee and will provide updates at ATPD meetings.  In addition to defined subcommittees, one member of ATPD will act as a liaison between ATPD and the planning committee for the UC Davis Academic Advising Conference.  Subcommittees are subject to change with consensus of ATPD based on strategic objectives and fluctuations in operational demand.  Subcommittees should, when possible, include other members of the advising community in order to support the purpose.  Foundational topics for subcommittees include training and development, mentoring, peer advising, and awards/recognition.  Subcommittees will be reviewed annually to ensure alignment with and value to continuous advisor growth. Advisors are encouraged to get involved with training and professional development planning and implementation by joining a subcommittee.
