While each college has goals that are specific to its students, we share many advising goals for undergraduates throughout the colleges: the ability to use campus resources, tools and strategies; to develop academic and professional relationships; to integrate classroom and co-curricular learning opportunities, and to use critical self-reflective practices to inform decisions about educational, career, and life goals as these connect to personal skills, interests and abilities.
The assessment process helps us develop and articulate objectives, and formulate ways to measure our success in guiding students to accomplish these goals. Identifying common Advising Objectives along with benchmarks, indicators and metrics help us to see our strengths and identify areas for improvement. Assessing the efficacy of current academic advising will guide the development of future practices.
